Angora Goats

Angora goats tend to be smaller than your average meat or dairy goat with does weighing, between 90 and 100 lbs on average.   The fleece of the Angora goat can grow at a phenomenal inch or so per month.  Shearing is generally done in the early spring, just before kidding season and again in the fall, just prior to breeding for the next crop of kids.  Gestation is around 5 months.

Angora goats are all about fiber quality.  Fleece fineness, curl and luster are of great importance.  White angora goats have been bred for many, many year with the goal of having only the purest, white fleece.  Animals with any color were generally culled as inferior.

Now with an emphasis on natural products, colored Angoras are bred specifically to produce what was once forbidden.  The registry of colored angora goats is still relatively new.  The CAGBA (colored Angora goat breeders association) has a wealth of information for the person interested in starting a herd of quality animals.  All of our Angoras are CAGBA registered.
